PORT RICHEY SWEET TOMATOES TO OPEN

Sweet Tomatoes Offers Sweet Deal:  $5 All-You-Care-To-Eat at Port Richey Location in March

Pre-opening “fun-raiser” benefiting American Red Cross

The newest Sweet Tomatoes, located at 10156 US 19 N in Port Richey, is scheduled to open on Monday, March 7. To celebrate the grand opening, Sweet Tomatoes has partnered with the American Red Cross, by hosting a preview fundraiser event on the following dates:

  • Friday, March 4, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, March 5, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

For only five dollars, guests can enjoy Sweet Tomatoes’ 45-foot salad bar full of fresh, seasonal vegetables and tossed salads, made-from-scratch soups and hand-crafted muffins, focaccia, breads and desserts. Sweet Tomatoes will donate 100 percent of the proceeds to American Red Cross, a charitable organization that provides shelters, feeds and provides emotional support to victims of disasters; supplies nearly half of the nation’s blood; teaches lifesaving skills; provides international humanitarian aid; and supports military members and their families.

The new Port Richey location will offer a rotating menu of more than 100 original, made fresh daily recipes featuring signature salads, soups, bakery goods and hot pasta sauces, at an all-you-care-to-eat price.  All food is prepared without the use of artificial flavors, colors, additives or artificial trans fats.  A different food theme is featured each month and the most popular menu items are rotated every two weeks.  Items are showcased on a 45-foot salad bar and prepared exhibition style every 20 minutes.

“The American Red Cross empowers ordinary people to perform extraordinary acts in emergency situations. We train. We mobilize. We connect donors and volunteers to those in urgent need of a helping hand,” said Janet McGuire, Regional Communications Officer for the American Red Cross. “Whether it is a hurricane or a heart attack; a call for blood or a call for help, the American Red Cross is there.  But we can’t do it alone.  It takes community partners like Sweet Tomatoes to provide us with the funds necessary to be there when an emergency is at hand.”

Sweet Tomatoes seeks to be a vital and contributing part of each community in which it operates. To reach this goal, restaurants offer a “Fun-Raiser” program through which charities, churches, schools, athletic teams, scout troops and other non-profit organizations may raise funds by hosting in-store events. The restaurants assist in marketing the non-profit’s event by creating master flyers for distribution and promotion.

Sweet Tomatoes in Port Richey will be open daily from 11:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. on weekdays, 11:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m. on Saturday and 9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. on Sundays.  For more information visit www.sweetomatoes.com. For more information on the American Red Cross visit www.redcross.org.

  4. I just spoke with my boss about this franchise. My husband and I travel for our job, and we love running into a sweet tomatoes for healthy eating while being on the road. It would be a wonderful addition to our tourist town, Sandusky, OH. Please come to OHIO. We have waited for a Chipoltles for several years, now we have that in our town and a Sweet Tomatoes would be a perfect compliment to that area of businesses.

  5. It’s about time we got something good in West Pasco…everything has been closing up. It’s nice to see something opening…especially Sweet Tomatoes!!! love it!

      1. Tracy: Word is circulating in my area that a building on So. Eastern Ave. in Henderson Nevada is being remodeled for a new Sweet Tomatoes location. If so, this will be a huge success because Sweet Tomatoes is hugely popular among residents of the area.

Can you confirm this story, and if so, indicate when that location is targeted for opening?

        Thank you.

        1. David,

    1. Thank you for the kind words and thank you for joining us this weekend. We hope to see you again. We are officially open for business!

  15. I enjoy Sweet Tomatoes and was happy to see one open near my work. I have attempted to go to this location 4 times for lunch and 1 time for dinner with wait times being 30 minutes to over an hour. Unlike most places where you get a pager, here you are asked to get a plate and stand in a line for an hour! They have a crazy sign out front about smaller location being a more “intimate” dining experience. I just want to eat. HORRIBLE IDEA

  16. Just ate at the new Port Richey location. Very disappointing. Read the sign by the door about new smaller restaurants. I don’t see that working. Customers will go elsewhere. The old Outback was small, but using only part of it doesn’t make sense. The atmosphere is very industrial, cafeteria like. Not an intimate setting at all. Guess I’ll make the trip to Palm Harbor or Tampa, or better yet, dine elsewhere.

  17. I also enjoy Sweet Tomatoes — but not this new “intimate” experience. I was excited that they opened one closer to my home, and yes, I did stand in line on Tuesday March 15 for about a half hour. Loaded up two plates, knowing it would be difficult to go back for more when the line is so crowded. Maybe it would, like everything else in life, take getting used to, but I still like the bigger restaurants — I just want to eat and read my book.

  18. This Restaurant chain is what made me fall in love with food….I helped open the new location in Hollywood,FL and it was a WOW experience. I was a crew member and handled the soup bar, bread bar,and pasta, even at times the salad bar…..Very easy to move up in this company work hard and it will pay off, wish I stayed and finished sometimes!

  19. This location is cramped, dirty, and poorly organized. Don’t expect much more from the area. No seating, poor design, and dirty utensils. Whoever thought having the front of the line right next to the door needs a head evaluation. People were bumping into each other due to lack of room, and design issues. Butter was rock hard when I tried to get a scoop out. Workers have to cut into the buffet line to refill foods, DURRR! Not winning.

  20. They keep the front door open allowing bugs to fly in and fly over the food buffett. When I mentioned it to the staff they said they did not care.
I watched as the bugs fly around the light and then fly down and land on the food.
New Restaurant or not, this is NASTY!
I left and did not eat there. Retuned the next night to only see the same thing.

    1. Dear Concerned Customer,
Thank you for your note. Our Port Richey location does not leave the front door open. Since opening in Port Richey, we had an appreciative number of guests that have dined at our restaurant. Because of the great response, the door is constantly opening and closing. We now have a system in place that this shouldn’t be happening as often. Thank you for your comments and concerns and we do hope that you will dine with us again and enjoy our Port Richey location.

  21. I have recently changed my lifestyle when it comes to eating, and a Sweet Tomatoes in my area sounded great! We usually go to the one in Palm Harbor.
I don’t want to give a negative review because everyone is working very hard to make this new location work, but there are some problems:
    1. Lots of time waiting in line, and watching idiots eat off of their plates, suck on their fingers, and then handle the utensils. This has happened every single time we have been there. Everyone sees the ‘don’t eat in line’ signs, but someone needs to be getting on these people. We have avoided restaurants before simply because the people that are going there are disgusting. Have the manager ask them to leave – there are plenty of people in line that aren’t being unclean to easily make up the difference.
    2. Due to the very small space, it seems like the employees are hovering directly over you, waiting for you to finish so that they can seat people that are waiting. There is an overall anxiety that doesn’t go well with a relaxing meal. Neither does having to dive kamikaze style into the soup line since there is always an aimless crowd milling around in that area.
    3. Intimate is good, as long as it’s with whoever you are personally eating with, but every time we don’t get one of the very scarce booths (most of the time), it seems like the people next to you are sitting on your lap. There will be no private conversation from you or them because the are basically at your table with you.
We have no complaints about the food, or even the need for the workers to cut into line to do cleaning and restocking, but the long waits and the overly intimate seating is a big minus. We have been back to the Palm Harbor location several times, and it’s always crowded, but we still give a big ‘ahhhhhhhh’ because even though it’s crowded, you don’t feel crowded.
I understand the smaller idea, but for us, roomier is much better overall.
If you still have the option, knock out the east wall and put an extended dining area in there. I don’t mind walking to get to the food.

  22. Had to stand in line holding plates, everyone keeps reaching over your plates to get stuff, including the workers, tables jammened together. serving spoons, were all the way in the salads, and no one washes hands as they go in, so germs and bacteria in the salads. I will not be returning, I think when Golden Coral repoens , they will give them a run for the money, as at least you get some maet. Also $2.49 for drink is way too much, after pay $8+ for the meal, I was so disappointed , as I read so much good about this place, but I was not at all impressed

  23. WE ARE PLANNING A FAMILY GET TO GETHER IN THE PORT RICHEY AREA AT THE BEGINNING OF JULY. THERE WILL BE 15-20 PEOPLE. DO YOU MAKE ADVANCE RESERVATIONS AS WE WILL BE RUNNING A TIGHT SCHEDULE AS WE HAVE OTHER CONNECTIONS TO MAKE AT 7:30 THAT EVENING.

IN ADDITIONS TO RESERVATIONS TO KEEP THE FAMILY TOGETHER WHAT ELSE CAN YOU DO TO MAKE THE TRIP MORE ENJOYABLE FOR THE ENTIRE FAMILY. i have written the home office twice but no responce.
