Sixth Annual ‘Waffle Feed’ Breakfast Hits a Home Run for Milwaukie High School

MHS Baseball Serve Breakfast

Matt Entrikin, who was recently promoted to Director of Operations, hosted the Sixth Annual Waffle Feed Fundraiser at Sweet Tomatoes in Clackamas, OR, this past Saturday to benefit the Milwaukie High School baseball program.

Student athletes sold tickets and served warm breakfast to guests in a restaurant menu style fashion. Divided into teams, there were greeters, servers for drink and food orders, and bussers to prepare for the next guests. The baseball team learned about working hard as a team, just like they do on the field. They served delicious waffles, fresh fruit, biscuits & gravy, sausage links, and beverages.

This year, 349 customers were served, along with 34 of the baseball team, raising a total of $2,690. This money will help in the purchase of uniforms, equipment, as well as upkeep on a “hitting facility,” and supports the travel budget for away games.

Over the course of five years in the “Waffle Feed” fundraiser, 2,151 guests have been served and $14,550 has been raised to support the program. “To see the kids working together is a real treat,” Matt says. “Events like this also bring us together as a community as families come out to support the waffle breakfast every year. We’ve received nothing but thanks and appreciation from all the families for allowing the kids to do this fundraiser.”

A 16-year Sweet Tomatoes veteran, Matt has a special affinity with baseball. His two older boys, Jordan and Eric, grew up playing the game while at Milwaukie High School. During his son’s high school years, Matt partnered with Coach Phil Marchant to start the fundraising breakfast in 2011.
